Did you know that you can colour with alcohol markers on Hot Foil images? I haven’t tried this technique before and I wanted to give a try!
But first, a BIG Welcome as this post is part of a Hop celebrating a new release from Altenew so you should have arrived here from the ALTENEW Blog.
For my little experiment I used the beautiful Flowery Bouquet Hot Foil Plate and the Altenew Artist Markers.

I used Hammermill cardstock to get a good foiling result but still have cardstock that I could ‘colour on’. Though I have to say that the Neenah is much easier to colour on using Alcohol Markers, but that may be because that is all I have used for the past few years lol.

I decided to go with a ‘black’ foiled image to give the look of a stamped image, but if you look closely it’s shiny and has a slight impression. I will try a different colour foil next time, what do you think? Have you used alcohol markers with foiled images yet?

My next design uses the fabulous Rainbow Burst Hot Foil Plate.

I did some simple washes of watercolour and die cut these bright beautiful flowers from the Layered Ornate Frame Die Set.

And for both card designs I used the Sweet Sentiments Hot Foil Plates and co-ordinating Die Sets. Altenew totally nailed it with these!

Love the coloring on the flowers and you can never go wrong with foiling! 🙂
Oh my goodness, Foiling scares the dickens out of me. Your cards are beautiful and make me want to face my fears. Thank you
Yes I have used artist markers on hot foil and I love the look, Therese. I haven’t tried it with black but did get some for my birthday so I’m anxious to foil this same image. I opted for the stencil instead and may still use them with the black.
Gorgeous cards and sets. Yes, I’ve colored on hot foiled images with alcohol markers, colored pencils, watercolors. I also use Black Foil and it looks great for sentiments. TFS your inspiration.
