Do you need even MORE inspiration for your 3D Embossing Folders? Why not add water 😉…
Watercolours that is lol. and I have 2 different kinds to share with you using 2 different techniques (You can watch the process linked in the video below)!

Did you know that this is part of my Take 2 Series with Altenew? This is where I try fun techniques and ideas, using similar products, and share them with you!
Idea #1 – Before Embossing
Seriously, anyone can do this! My first design, started with a rough wash of the Artists’ Watercolors on some Watercolor Paper.

After it had dried, I then embossed it with the Rose Bellevue 3D Folder and then added some ‘extra’ shading to add even more depth.
BONUS TIP: If you don’t have any watercolours you can get a similar look using dye inks. Simply smoosh them onto a non-porous surface like a piece of plastic, add water and paint as you would with regular watercolours.

And, because I wanted the rose to be the star of the show, I added a simple sentiment using the Fancy Enjoy Die.

Idea #2 – After Embossing
I couldn’t wait to play with the Artists’ Gouache again. It is water based so works similarly to the watercolours, but has more of an opaque, almost chalky finish.

For my second design, I acutally emobssed the Watercolor Paper first before adding the Gouache.
PRO TIP: Don’t add too much water or you may lose definition in the embossed edges…. though, there is a great way to FIX this, simply re-emboss the panel again after it is dry.

This time I added a bold sentiment from the the One-Go Birthday Greetings Bundle.

What beautiful cards!!
Thank you Steph!
Santa brought me this EF for Christmas, Therese! Can’t wait to try each of your techniques and hope to achieve such beautiful results!
=]
Yay for Santa! Hope you have fun with it my friend, I can’t wait to see what you create!
WOW! your watercolor wash embossed rose is terrific, and the gouache painted rose is FABULOUS! I wasn’t sure about using gouache, but you convinced me to “give it a go” 🙂
It’s very similar to watercolour, but the ‘opaqueness’ is what makes it such fun1
You really brought that rose to life, Therese. Both cards are gorgeous!
Thank you Bobby!
Lovely cards. The depth in the gouache version is amazing.
Thank you so very much Christine!
Beautiful cards. I must try these – I’ve added a few more embossing folders to my stash recently! 😉 IDK why I have so many already 🙂
