Altenew February 2023 Marvelous Monthly Series Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in Total Prizes!)

Do you like to take your projects right to the edge? Let me show you how!

But first, this post is part of a Hop celebrating a new release from Altenew so you should have arrived here from ANET’s wonderful Blog.

Card Idea – Off-the-Edge!

One of my favourite things to do is use partial images on my cards! This is a great way to stretch your supplies to get a different look. Today I used the Craft-Your-Life Project Kit: Eclectic Bouquet.

And, this bouquet is perfect to create an off-the-edge design. I stamped and colored the bouquet with Artist Markers, then used the coordinating die to cut it out.

BONUS TIP: Want a more clean and simple design? You could stamp the bouquet directly onto the card front and hold back on the ‘extra’ foliage.

I popped up the bouquet and snipped off the overlapping image before adding a simple sentiment from the Fancy Greetings Stamp Set.

  1. You always bring your magic to these gorgeous floral bouquets, Therese! PRESTO she’s done it again! x
    =]
ps of course you know i’d be forced to let that bouquet continue on to the back, right? =]

  2. What a brilliant idea to use that partial image! It gives so much movement to the final results! I am definitely going to have to give it a try! Thank you!

  3. Dear Therese – Your soft and subtle palette is STUNNING. This is absolutely GORGEOUS. This item looks so different every way that it’s been presented. TFS –

  4. Your card is beautiful. The colors you chose create a beautiful and subtle floral bouquet. I like how you placed it slightly off the card.

  5. That was a fabulous color palette. If you were starting out with Altanew inks, which 5 (no black) would you suggest? Would you go with one color family or with 1 of each color, or ?

    1. That is a difficult question… and it would depend on what you use them for. I would buy specific colours instead of the families, if you are getting just a few. If you are a flower person, then I would suggest a combination of mid to light tones (as you can always stamp twice to get a darker colour or add a little bit of pencil for shading). Personally, a couple of greens, if you like brights then Lime and Fresh Leaf or more subtle would be Jade and Eucalyptus. If you like pink tones for flowers I would go with Frosty Pink, Coral Berry and then add in Sunray for the yellow (as I often layer yellow with pink for a fun look). You can also layer stamp by ‘leaving a layer’ for white space, so you don’t need as many colours. Another great starter set is the ‘Spring Bouquet’. Hope this helps. Have a fab and crafty day Tx

  6. Gorgeous use of a beautiful image. Love the additional leaves. I wonder if the part you clipped off could be the start of another card?

  7. Stunning Therese. Love the idea of the off the edge die cutting with this one and the rest of the bouquet behind the die cut portion. Awesome!

  8. Lovely card, this stamping of the side is something I need to remember, especially with larger stamps. Thanks for the chance to win. I have been writing this new stamp, it is so lovely!

  9. My goodness, this is just simply incredible Therese! Love the selective coloring for the natural-looking highlights, and the way you stamped the foliage directly on the panel and then popped up the bouquet… I have been searching endlessly for inspiration and I’ve finally found it, love this and can’t wait to get off work so I can go make my own interpretation of this card!!! Thank you!

  10. Hi Therese. Your card is so lovely. I like the soft colors on your flowers. Thanks for the wonderful idea for using stamps in a different way. I like this unique off the edge look. I really enjoyed this card. I am looking forward to your next card creation.

  11. I love this card so much. It is unique and has sparked ideas in my head on what to try next. Lovely design and colors.

  12. Lovely card! I love the off the edge technique. I always forget about it. It’s simple and a great way to get a different look.
