If you are anything like me then you are in desperate need to top up your masculine cards in your stash. I’m here to help you do just that today… as well as smash your scrap stash! So let’s get to it, starting with,

Idea #1 – Negative Space

Why not use those scraps to fit into a ‘negative’ die cut space. No-one will ever know it was a scrap, it looks like it was meant to be lol.

I used a large die cut balloon die but you can use any shape that you want. And if you want to keep postage to a minimum, skip the foam tape and adhere the panel directly to the front of the card.

BONUS IDEA: Don’t have any large dies…. why not use small dies and small pieces of cardstock scraps to create a repeated design on your card. It could be random or in a pattern!

Idea #2 – Die Cut Shapes

This is such a fun technique! I chose to use speech bubbles and literally grabbed all the dies and layed them out until I was happy with the design on the card. AND I chose some fun bright colours (always a hit on masculine card designs), and these ones just happened to be rainbows.

I stamped a sentiment on one of the speech bubbles, but you could add a die cut sentiment. you could even add a sentiment to each speech bubble for added FUN!

Idea #3 – Shaker Card

Infinity shaker? Why not! This time I used scraps to create a striped background and then added a full A2 Shaker. You could also make your own A2 shaker or even size it down to fit what scraps you have.

You could add any image or shaker bits that you want, but for me it had to be a Pinata! What’s a party without a pinata 😉.

Idea #4 – Layer It Up

Do you have scraps that you just do not like and can’t see yourseld ever using? Then this technique is the one for you. USE the scraps to add dimension to your die cuts. If you choose carefully then this can also add a little extra colour to your dimension. Can you see here that I chose scraps of ‘blue’ cardstock?

I love using simple design layouts on masculine cards, with fun sentiments like this one.

PRO TIP: Don’t limit yourself to layering up sentiments, you can also add layers to die cut images too!

Idea #5 – Add Texture

My final design uses scrap pieces of cardstock attached to create a panel for card front… but to take it that step further I have die cut it with a cover die that adds texture.

I added some simple die cut leaves and a heat embossed sentiment. I love using leaf images on masculine cards!

BONUS IDEA – Tag It!

Why not create a coordinating tag for your greeting card! I used the Modern Tags Die, which was the perfect size for my scrap, but you can combine any cardstock scraps to suit tag dies you have. Imagine, creating some fun tags for your Christmas presents this year.

PRO TIP: You don’t need a tag ‘die’ to make tags, it’s very easy to cut a shape with a paper trimmer and then use a hole punch so that you can add some twine.

    1. I’ve made a few versions of this card over the years and I think my fave was a ‘christmas one’ with a different sentiment on each die cut.
