Do you have any design paper? If you do, then maybe you need some EASY and FUN ideas to use it…
As you may already know, I am trying to use my Design Paper. It’s easy to add it as a background, but I want MORE! So to stretch it just that little bit further I’ve been playing with some of my scrappy ideas from my recent ‘Scrap’ cardstock videos.

But first, did you know that this is part of my Take 2 Series with Altenew and I’m very happy to be back with another video for you today.
Idea #1 – Die Cut an Image
Today I am using the Exuberant Paper Pack, this has a great colour selection and the pattern sizes are perfect for our card designs.
So, when I was looking at it, I thought that these patterns would look amazing as a vase. So I die cut one of the papers using the Versatile Vases 2 set. And then I added some ‘dimension’ by blending around the edges (but this step is totally optional).

BONUS IDEA: You can die cut many different types of shapes and images from design paper. What about adding multiple shapes, like hearts or stars, to the front of your card?

I added bouquets from the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Delicate Garden to both of my cards today. On this design I coloured the flowers with Artist Markers… which takes me to my second idea.

Idea #2 – Ink Blending
For the second card, I stamped the bouquet and then added colour by ink blending with stencils directly to the design paper. No 2 cards will ever be the same, the look will be completely different depending on which design paper and pattern you choose to use!

PRO TIP: Choose design paper that is not ‘too busy’. It will be easier to see the image and it’s also fun if you can see the pattern through the colouring too.

And I added a sentiment from the Bold Sentiments Stamp Set and Meadow Reflections butterflies to the cards.

Are you inspired to stretch your design papers? To see just how I made these, watch it right here or in HD on YouTube.

Both are great cards! Really like the large rose so guess it is my favorite. I love way you did the stamping on the patterned paper and then stenciled over the paper. So pretty! Always enjoy watching you color with Artist Markers.
Thank you Linda, the markers are easy to use, I would just love a few more colours… some pastel ones would be nice lol.
Really beautiful cards Therese. Especially love the “Sending hugs”.
Glad you like them Dee!
Both are just stunning!!!
Thank you Lisa x
Two wonderful ideas, Therese that became two beautiful cards!
Thank you so much my friend x
Oh gosh, these cards are so lovely and fresh for spring. The second one is my favorite.
So glad you liked them Carolyn!
The stencilling on design paper turned out really well. This could really burn through the stash!
I know right, it’s exactly what I ‘need’ lol.
Your paper worked wonders with the stamps, Therese, and resulted in great cards.
Thank you Bobby, it’s a fun bold paper pack!
These cards are really nice – I love the vase paper design! And, the coloring of the first flower was excellent especially the contrast between the flower and the leaves, I thought it was stunning. Anyhow, I’m glad you said that about the stamps sizing differences because I thought I was going crazy having to ink and re-ink pads but the problem is with the stamp – that really makes sense. Thank you T, Denise
Thanks so very much Denise! Yes, it took me a while to work out about the stamps too. It’s usually more common between different companies but I think with manufacturing issues over the past few years it’s been even harder for companies, and plus I think it something to do with the way the stamps are made too. But, if we know about it then we can save ourselves the headache lol.
Sorry, I meant the second flower – anyway the card with the design paper vase. Denise
I’d like an entire pad of just this perfectly wonderful pink paper, please? It’s not too much to ask, is it?
Two more gorgeous ways to take those designer papers to the next level, Therese!

I agree my friend, we only ask for the small things (wink) x
Two stunning cards!
Thank you Vicki!
