What do you do with your ‘left-over’ die cuts? Today, I have a nesting die idea or 2 to share with you!
But first, did you see that Spellbinders is having a HUGE Spring SALE US and in the UK HERE!! There are even $1 deals and the die-cutting machines, the glimmer, and even the tools are on sale! I know right… (these are my afflinks, if you choose to use them, a BIG thank you for supporting my channel)
I wanted to recreate a card that was similar to this one HERE and this one HERE (which has a video)… but without ALL that dimension. Although, I have to say that this one came together much easier, thanks to the new and improved products lol! Spellbinders has a new release called Stylish Ovals and I love that this collection has oval nesting dies and some beautiful coordinating florals to choose from!

Originally I had only planned on making one card but when I saw the ‘left-over’ die cuts on my desk I just couldn’t put them away. AND if I didn’t make my two-for card now, I knew I never would come back to it, who hears me on this?
Idea #1 – Negative Die Cuts
I started by die cutting an A2 panel of each piece of coloured cardstock. I then chose which order I wanted the colours to be seen descending into the negative space. And because the Essential Stylish Ovals has every nesting size you will ever need I was able to easily match the exact die cut space between each colour.

I began by die-cutting the top layer of cardstock and was able to easily line it up on the next piece to die-cut my next oval. It was easy to repeat this step until I had all 4 pieces die-cut.
PRO TIP: If you need to add low tack tape to hold your dies in place apply it so that it is in the negative space. Then remove the tape gently but, if the paper accidently tears you won’t have ruined the piece that need for your card design.

I couldn’t resist and added one thin layer of dimension, but otherwise I adhered the panels directly to each other. Then I decorated the card with some ink blended Hello You Floral flowers and a sentiment from the same set.

Idea #2 – Positive Die Cuts
I literally reversed the layers of cardstock! I adhered the layers of cardstock directly to each other but did add a thin layer of dimension to pop the whole oval background up on the front of the card.

But this time I die cut the Hello You Floral in white cardstock, did a little surgery to the stem and adhered it directly to the centre piece.

I added a simple die cut sentimtent from the Wonderful Script Sentiments set. And both cards also have a small splatter of pearls (these are fast becoming my new fave embellies lol).

Are you inspired to create some ‘two-for’ die cut designs?
And let me know, are you like me… if you don’t use your left-overs straight away, it wouldn’t happen😉? I’m looking forward to seeing you here again real soon, Crafty hugs,

Also, just in case you want to do a little shopping I’ve added the links below (some of them are affiliate links which means that I will receive a small portion of the sale at no extra cost to you). I truly appreciate your support of my card adventures!
