How to Make STYLISH Ink Swiping FLORAL Cards 5 Minutes (+ Video)!

Not a fan of colouring? Then today’s technique is for you and you probably already have everything you will need already in your stash!

But first, I wanted to let you know that this is part of my Take 2 Series with Altenew and I’m so excited that you are joining me for another video today. Let’s begin with a peek at today’s cards…

Technique: Ink Swiping

Ink Swiping, the name says it all. Choose the colours of ink you would like to use and swipe them across your paper. You can add as little or as much colour as you like. You can even swipe colours over each other to change it up even more. I used 80lb Neenah white cardstock, but this would work well on any white card or you could even try using coloured cardstock too! I used dye inks for today’s projects but you could also try pigment inks or whatever you have on hand.

I was inspired by this card HERE, which made me start to wonder… how can I expand on this technique? And 2 fun ideas came to mind starting with…

Idea #1 – Die Cut Flower!

I love layered die cut flowers and if you have been here before then you may already know that this Magnolia has my heart. I chose some purples and used a combination of 3 colours for the flower.

And, I decided not to use all the layers of the leaves, it’s great to have these options as it can change the look of the finished design.

PRO TIP: When you place your dies on the swiped ink cardstock try including portions that show the swiping as well as some white edges. This will help give your flower some variations in colour.

I kept the final design modern and simple, with a sentiment from the Silk Art set but a die-cut sentiment would look fabulous here as well.

Idea #2 – Heat Embossed Flower!

Initially I was thinking about making multiple flowers and creating a bouquet, but the single Striking Flower with it’s bold lines was calling lol.

This time I used two colours swiped together and love the depth that it gave (I wish I had of used the blue on the base of the die cut flower after seeing this).

Finally, I added a few splatters and a simple sentiment from the Fragile Foliage stamp set.
