Do you prefer stamped or die-cut flowers? Or, is that like asking which is your favourite child? For me,
I have to say it depends on how I feel on the day, but the Craft-A-Flower sets such as this Bellflower, or any layering die-cut flower set will always have a place close to my heart. But, did you know that Altenew has taken it one step further and made it even EASIER to layer the die cuts? I call it, the MIRACLE of the Keyhole and the Arrow 😉!
But first, I wanted to let you know that this is part of my Take 2 Series with Altenew and I’m so excited that you are joining me for another video today. Let’s begin with a peek at today’s cards…

You can see my video here or watch it HD at YouTube.
#THEMIRACLE
It’s not rocket science but whoever thought of it should be ‘crowned’. The layers of the die cut flowers are numbered and have a shape cut into them (such as a keyhole or an arrow). To layer the flowers simply start at number one and align the coordinating ‘keyholes’ and adhere the layers numerically.
You can see how easy it is in the video linked above.
Idea #1 – White Cardstock!
I love to cut all the petals of the flowers at once using white cardstock (usually a lighter weight like Neenah 80lb), this makes the die-cutting process much quicker and I can either blend onto it, or colour it as I want before I assemble the flowers.

Can you see that I am still on the ‘dark’ background kick. But this time I added a subtle pattern using the Dotted Tile Debossing Cover Die.
BONUS IDEA: Instead of using a cover die why not stamp a pattern or subtle image ‘tone on tone’ onto the dark background, I think that would look brilliant!

And the sentiments today are both for sympathy cards (luckily just for the stash right now). This one is from the Sweet Lilies set, it has some lovely wordage.

Idea #2 – Crepe Paper!
So I’ve been playing with ‘crepe’ paper flowers recently and this is the first time I have made some in a video. So now you can finally see the tips and tricks I use to get the soft look without the flowers falling apart.

I created a simple window using one of the Ornate Nesting Dies.

And added a sentiment from the Elegant Sayings Bundle. This has one of the the most beautiful fonts, and tick for the coordinating dies too!

Let me know in the comments below which card is your fave today and if you think you might create a layered die cut flower? You know you want to lol. Crafty hugs,

Also, just in case you want to do a little shopping I’ve added the links below (some of them are affiliate links which means that I will receive a small portion of the sale at no extra cost to you). I truly appreciate your support of my card adventures!

I think they should get a medal, Therese! Those keyholes and arrows DO take the guess work out of assembling these die-cut flowers!
Now. As far as MY favorite? It’s wonderful to sit and lose myself and the worries of our world over water/or/Copic coloring the stamped floral images… but for instant gratification, it’s these Craft-a-Flower sets for sure!
You’ve created two gorgeous specimen cards today – off I go to watch you bring them to life!
=]
Yay! Thank you Michele, adn YES they definitely do make such a difference with assembly!

Yes, I agree, it really makes it such an easy process to layer the flowers!
Sigh… these are a whole lot of pretty, Therese! Thanks for the video 😉
Thank you Lisa
Beautifully crafted. Love that keyhole die design, so smart!
I know right, something so simple can be such a game changer!
Both cards are beautiful, Therese. I love the texture you get with the crepe paper. Altenew was really innovative with the way the Craft-a-Flowers go together. So much easier.
It has definitely made assembly sooo much easier, Hope you are well my friend x
