Layering Stencils, are you a fan? I have quickly become addicted to layering stencils, but why?

#WHYSTENCILS?
What’s not to love about using stencils in your card designs. If you do not like to colour, or you just don’t have time, then stencils can give the WOW factor without the stress. Check out these cards here…
Idea #1 – Stencil Art!
Gone are the days of background and pattern stencils being the only option available. Now, we can create a piece of art in just a matter of minutes. This stencil has all the layers you need to add depth to flowers and leaves to create a bouquet big enough to fill an A2 card.
I used ink colours from Dried Petals and Forest Trail Ink Bundles, but you could use any combination of colours that you have. Or, change it up and use the favourite colour of flowers for the person receiving the card.
PRO TIP: Want to colour the background, and don’t want to cut out masks? I simply added a light blue blend around the design making sure the keep away from the flower petals.
Idea #2 – Bold Repeat Design
Don’t hold back, add those darker bolder colours for a dramatic effect. What’s the worst thing that can happen… 😉? If you are not sure which colours to layer, Altenew makes it easy to simply choose a set of coloured inks that appeal, such as I did when I used the Dried Petals inks again. This is the same set of pinks that I used in the previous design, but I they look quite different.
I added a bold heat embossed sentiment for a little extra pop!
Technique #3 – Double Stenciling
This is a fun technique that works particularly well with a shaped stencil such as the Circle Frame, which you can see in this video HERE. So, when I saw the Enchanted Beginnings Stencil I just had to add the Mega Blossom to this glamorous dress!
PRO TIP: I used pencils to add the fabric folds, but there is also a coordinating 3D Embossing Folder which could be used to add dimension and detail to the dress.
I added a simple sentiment to make this a wedding card design, but different dress colours could be used to change up the occasion, such as for a school formal.
