Do you want MORE from your layering dies? With only ONE die set it’s easy to make multiple different flowers. In fact, these flowers are perfect for creating small filler flowers for bouquets, and I’m going to show you how!
But first, I wanted to let you know that this is part of my Take 2 Series with Altenew and I’m so excited that you are joining me for another video today. Let’s begin with a peek at today’s cards…

Have you ever looked CLOSELY at your layering dies?
Do you need ‘filler flowers’ for your project, these are the small flowers that build a bouquet and can help add balance to a card design. One of the best things about a multilayered floral layering dies is that you can create flowers from within flowers, and today I am going to share 3 NEW flowers using one die set, as well as a BONUS tip just for fun!
Card #1 – Hello
The Gardenia Layering Die Set has 2 large blooms and a variety of leaves. If you are not sure where to start assembling one of the complete flowers can make it easier to see which layers of dies are needed to create the smaller blooms, OR look at the packaging as the layering guide is printed on the back.

There are many ways to alter these layered blooms. Either add MORE layers or REMOVE layers to achieve the look you want. I created smaller flowers today, using only the top few layers of the dies and assembling them as intended. And if you are bold, you could also take it a step further and alter the die cuts using a pair of scissors!

To create these flowers, I die cut coloured cardstock for a quick and easy base color and then ink blended dye inks with a focus on the centre of the die cuts.
PRO TIP:
Using different tones of ink to create darker and lighter flowers, will give beautiful variations to your bouquet.

Card #2 – Have a Beautiful Day
I went a step further and made 2 smaller filler flowers for this card design. Can you see that I used the largest bloom centre yet again, but only the final 3 layers of die cuts? And, I also used the centre of the second flower from the set to create a small flower.

BONUS IDEA:
Did you know that you can use ‘petal’ dies to create leaves? In this example I die cut light blue-green cardstock using ‘petal dies’ and ink blended them in green.

To assemble this card, I added an inlay die cut circle as a focal point for the sentiment. As well as some beautiful gem sparkles.

I hope you are inspired to stretch your layering floral dies to get new blooms! Let me know in the comments below if you are going to try this technique.

Also, just in case you want to do a little shopping I’ve added the links below (some of them are affiliate links which means that I will receive a small portion of the sale at no extra cost to you). I truly appreciate your support of my card adventures!

What a great eye and idea, Therese. I looked at my flowers and they won’t really work well so I guess it’s gardenias for me.
I’ve done this with stamped flowers too Bobby, that’s if you don’t mind a little fussy cutting lol. Ps enjoy those Gardenias!
