Do you like to go outside your comfort zone? Well, that’s exactly what I did today… be kind ❤️—

So, I read the email wrong… yes, I was so excited when Bibi Cameron approached me to try her new release Liquid Intense Colors, that I thought the email said that I ‘had to’ freehand paint my own images. Ahem, after I made the cards I read the instructions properly, I realised that was totally not the case. But, I had so many ideas and such a fun time painting, that I will not deny, it was a fun challenge to take me out of my comfort zone!

Intense Liquid Colors
These are high-quality, translucent, and vibrant water-based paints designed for crafters and artists of all skill levels.
There is a total of 3 Sets (8 colours in each) being released. The Retro Brights (which is the one that I am using today), there is also Bohemian Regals and Tuscany Earth. Now, when it comes to choosing… I really wanted the Tuscany Earth, but I know that my style of cardmaking tends toward fun and bright and this has taken me years to grasp. So, bring on the brights…
The Retro Brights color palette features the colors of the rainbow.
A selection of primary (Red, Yellow, and Blue), secondary (Orange, Green, Purple), and tertiary colors (Indigo and Violet). This set is perfect for mixing ALL the colours because it contains the primarys!
#LIQUIDWATERCOLOURING
- These colours really are intense, a little goes a long way!
- Because they are ‘liquid’ they are set ready to use, just pick up the colour with a brush and paint.
- But, you are not limited to only one colour, they mix very easily.
- I work from a plastic watercolour palette, this gives me plenty of space to mix and see the combinations before I apply paint to paper (a ceramic plate works great here too).
- Keep a scrap piece of cardstock beside you to test colour mixes as needed.
- Use a colour wheel to choose colour combinations and colour mixing. I refer to mine OFTEN. But, if you don’t have one they are also available free online.
- Mix more than you think you need. Because chances are… you are not going to get that exact combo ever again lol.
- Create on the best watercolour cardstock you have in your stash (don’t hoard it… USE it, you are worth it!).
- And there is no waste. Even if the liquid watercolors have been poured onto a palette and ‘dry out’, they can easily be reactivated by adding clean water to them with a paint brush.
PRO TIP: This is also a great way to get a more intense version of the same colour. - These colours are translucent, so if you are ‘hand drawing’ your images, use a light touch with a pencil, or partially erase the image (before you paint) so that the pencil will not be visible on your finished project.
- The Sparkle Base colours can be added to the Liquid Colors. I tried for myself, and it works fabulously, but on my projects today I decided to add the silver over top, after the paint had dried. This was easy to do and added some fab shimmer!
Let’s get to the cards!
#1 Card – Cupcake with Sprinkles!
My first impressions? These gorgeous fun Retro Brights look good enough to eat 😂!
When I was thinking about what to draw, my thoughts obviously went straight to food. But, I also needed some birthday cards for my stash. Not exactly realism, but it is bright and fun!

I like adding little extras. This is a great way to take a card to the next level. This cupcake had a little Silver shimmer added to the icing as well as some sprinkles!

I’ve never seen Stackable Blocks before. I think as a cardmaker if you have all the things they would not be a necessary purchase as we have stamping platforms, blocks and more. But, if you are someone who isn’t necessarily into papercrafting, then they may be a good option. Especially if you post out packages every day. You can easily grab the sentiment you want and quickly stamp it.

#2 Card – Time for Cake!
I struggled with this image a little more. For a start I had it on a lean, yes, who would’ve thought my straight lines weren’t exactly straight. Then, who knows what I was thinking when it came to the icing on the top of the cake.

As usual, I tend to overwork watercolor. I am getting better at saying STOP, but it’s probably later than I should 🤔. But, that is part of the learning curve and also the fun. I did enjoy adding a larger shadow background to these cards today, it’s not something I have done before.

I also enjoyed the alphabet set, I love adding a bespoke sentiment! This set has multiples of letters, brilliantly thought out, no guessing or adding a missing letter later. You, could even set some often used words on the stackable blocks ready to go, to save time for your future self.

My verdict? These Liquid Intense Colors were such fun to create with. I literally opened them and started coloring immediately, easy to use (especially if you are colouring a stamped image), but also a hand drawn one too lol. There is sooo much colour in one bottle, mixing was easy and I was even able to come back the next day and reactivate the dried colour with water, so there is no waste either.
I was happy with the combination of colours, having the primarys in the set meant that I was able to make almost any colour in the colour wheel. Congratulations on this fantastic release Bibi, and a HUGE thank you for asking me to share in the FUN!
I have more ideas for some handpainted designs… please let me know in the comments below if you are interested in more card ideas like these.
