How to Use Die Cuts to Make the SAME Design DIFFERENT?

Do you like flowers? Well, if you’ve been here before, you already know, I do… but did you know, that you can change it up?

I use affiliate links, this means that if you click on a product that is linked to an affiliate shop then I will receive a small portion of the sale at no extra cost to you).
This is a great way to support me as well as the shops that we love 🥰!

Today I am using this beautiful floral bouquet from Spellbinders, and you could easily re-create this bouquet as it is shown on the packaging…. OR, you could change it up?

Would you like to see today’s cards (no bouquet’s in sight 😉)?

Yes, these bouquets… are no longer bouquets. But that is where a set like this makes me happy. I can use these flowers however I like. Independantly OR grouped, the possibilities are endless!

Idea #1 – Use them ALL

Crank out multiple flowers in a multitude of colours and move them around until you are happy… that’s literally what I did here. These flowers can all be used independantly, they are not actually linked into the bouquet shape.

BONUS IDEA: I chose colours that I thought would co-ordinate well together, but this card would look fantastic in one colour palette… imagine if all these flowers were different tones of pink instead.

The sentiment looks subtle here, but is actually easier to see IRL. I used some White Opaque Hot Foil… in fact, it’s my favourite Hot Foils!

Idea #2 – Repeat Image

This idea is a little slower to make, as you have to ‘crank’ the die cutting machine over and over to get the same flower repeated… but I think, it’s worth it. I kept a similar colour palette so it kept my decision making to a minimum…

COLOUR COMBOS? I can spend ALL day choosing card making colour combos, it’s one of my fave things to do… speaking of which, have you signed up for my email with the ‘pop-up’ that you will see on this post, cause it has a ton of my fave floral colour combos as well as links to videos for more inspiration. OR, you can sign up on this PAGE HERE.

For this design, you may notice that I kept the same basic layout, but used a die cut word instead of the Hot Foil. Although, you could easily stamp and heat emboss a white sentiment instead.

You can see how I changed up the background here as well. I used the same colour, but cut it into a panel which left the white card border… happy sigh, you probably already know it’s something I love to do!

I hope you are inspired to move some die cut flowers out of their bouquet? If you do, don’t forget to share them on social media with me, I’d love to see what you make!

  1. Therese, I love how you’ve used these gorgeous die-cut florals, and you’ve arranged them so beautifully on both cards! I also love your ‘blue skies!’

  2. Wow! Saw these over on IG and pop straight over to your blog. Honestly, I just love everything about both cards. Love that green/blue card stock. Such pretty floral dies too. I don’t buy supplies in January I donate what my wish list is. It’s my giving month and you’ve just added to it.
