A FUN Interactive Critter Card – LIVE Card Making Video!

Are you a critter fan? These dies may have multiple layers… but why do they work?

But first, would you like to see the finished card?

LIVE VIDEO: Today was in real time, LIVE, and I walk through how you can combine dies from different sets to create something new and exciting!

You can see the LIVE video below or watch it HD at YouTube.

#WHY DO THESE DIES WORK?

When I look at these sets of dies I kinda feel a little overwhelmed, but that’s just the first time. Because once I start using them I realise they are made to make my life easy. In fact,

  • The small die cut pieces are paired together into one cutting die so that I can cut the colours I need for that particular die all at once! That’s when I realise just how clever they are (much more than me, if you caught today’s video disaster 🙈).
  • The other thing I always fail to remember as I am assembling small pieces is that I am not colouring… and when I think about that, colouring can take me hours.
  • I also, ahem, have all the tools to make my life easy… ie. fine glue tip, perfect picker, fine tweezers, craft knife, all the good stuff.
  • I have the die to make this swinging mechanism easy, but you could also recreate it with what you have, I talk through how in the video.

This was a card that I just had to make, it’s been in my head since I first saw these sets and I hope that it inspires you to get those critters out and make an interactive design.

  1. Gorgeous little card Therese. Just an idea for future posts, why not add the product link for Spellbinders UK too! It’s just better for us in the UK and mainland Europe.

    1. I’ve been adding the UK link for the ‘shop’ but would you like each product linked as well Delia? I have to create each link separately, but am hoping to upgrade to an easier service once I transfer my blog in a few months.

  2. Love this Terese…I am on the wait list for the Elephant set already. I have a go cart die with a frog. Love the Balloons with faces. Any idea where I can just get those balloons. The are adorable. Great work on this card. Love it. So many things we can do with the swinging element.

    1. I agree, the ‘swing’ makes it easy and it’s great to be able to make an interactive card without covering the whole card front to get it to work. Other options would be a ‘smiling’ face to stamp on balloons, I haven’t seen these sold separately anywhere. Hope you enjoy your elephant set as much as I have been!
