Alex Syberia Designs March Release & Giveaway!

Are you ready for some fun Handmade Shoe Card Ideas?

“In these shoes?” That song line has been stuck in my head since dancing at my nephew’s wedding – and let’s just say my toe is still recovering! Thankfully, these shoes are much more comfortable… and perfect for some fun handmade card ideas.

But first, let’s take a look at the cards.

Psst… before we start: This post is part of a fun blog hop with Alex Syberia and a giveaway (yay!), so be sure to check out the hop list below and leave a comment for your chance to win.

Colored cardstock can be a great starting point for card designs. For these cards, I used it in two different ways to create stylish shoe designs

Card #1 – Layered Die Cut Shoe Card

Colored cardstock can really pack a punch when it comes to layered die cut images. Select a fun combination of cardstock colors – here I chose light pink and bright red. I didn’t need to add any ink blended shading, but that’s always an option if you want more depth.

Instead, I stepped up the design by adding a subtle Tiny Heart die cut pattern before cutting the shoe pieces. This allows the bright red to pop through the design. I finished the shoes with a sweet little daisy detail.

PRO TIP: Don’t have the exact colored cardstock you need? Try coloring some with a marker and then die cutting it – like I did here with the flower centres and the bows on the shoes.

Card #2 – Leopard Print Shoes on Colored Cardstock

I used a press plate to stamp a leopard print pattern (using alcohol marker friendly ink) directly onto light pink cardstock and then added a little shading with Copics to give the shoes some dimension. Of course, I couldn’t resist coloring a bright red inner sole again… because every stylish pair of shoes deserves one! Starting with colored cardstock gives you a highlight color without having to color the entire image.

These shoes needed a special place to live, so I created a decorative shoe box for them. The frame die works perfectly to create the box opening and I tucked some tissue paper inside for that classic “new shoes” look.

PRO TIP: When coloring on colored cardstock, test your colors on a scrap piece of the same cardstock first to see what the final color will look like.

I hope these shoe card ideas inspire you to experiment with colored cardstock in your own designs. Whether you layer it for bold die cut images or stamp and color directly on it, it’s a simple way to add style and dimension to your cards.

If you give one of these ideas a try, I’d love to see what you create!

Happy Papercrafting!

Special thanks to my crafty assistant, Chad (aka ChatGPT), for helping me stay on track with my Gemini brain, grammar, and spelling… well, all the things! 😄

  1. Love the cards with these shoes! (though I’ll be honest…my feet hurt just looking at them, LOL!) They’re pretty as cards, but I’d hate to have wear them!
