Will It Spin or Flop? Fun Interactive Masculine Cards with Chattering Teeth (+ Live Video)

Have you ever bought a crafty tool… with absolutely no idea how it works? 😄

That’s exactly what happened here! I’ll share more about that little experiment soon, but today I’m focusing on creating some fun interactive masculine cards using movement, humour, and bold colour choices to make them feel a bit more special.

Interactive Masculine Cards

Interactive cards are a fun way to add movement and make your designs feel more special.

They’re also a great option for masculine cards – especially when you add a touch of humour. After all… who wouldn’t smile at chattering teeth?

If you’re not sure where to start with masculine designs, try a bright color palette. I like to keep the number of colors limited, but use multiple hues of each to add interest. Keeping the design simple works well too – I often use color blocking and humour.

Combine these with an interactive element, and you’ve got a great place to start for masculine cards.

Card #1 – Swinging Chattering Teeth

For this card, I used the Dancin’ Chatterbox die set as intended, with the legs swinging to create a fun interactive effect. The oversized googly eyes add a playful touch and really bring the design to life.

I used bright colour blocking and added multiple sentiments, placing one on each block for a fun masculine card.

Card Inspiration – Let’s Spin It Right Round (Baby)

I thought I may have bitten off more than I could chew (pun intended!) when I was making this design. I bought some ‘spinners’ on a whim recently, assuming they were for interactive card designs, but I couldn’t find any instructions for them.

So I decided to test them out after seeing Benita use them in her video. I did wonder if I was being a bit ambitious choosing such a large, uneven image to spin… but it’s a spinning miracle – and this new-to-me crafty tool turned out to be a success

Card Inspiration – WOW

For this card, I changed up the letters to create a WOW design. It’s not interactive, but it uses the same bright colour palette to tie in with the other cards.

With a little extra time while the glue was drying, it was the perfect chance to try a simple bonus idea. Did you see the W hiding in the M? I simply flipped the M to create the W for this design – and it could easily be switched back to make a MOM card too!

What would I have done differently?

  • On the swing card it would have been fun to color in the heat embossed sentiment… or even inlay the OMG with deeper shades to make it look 3D.
  • The spinner card would have looked great with a bit of dimension on the OMG, because the spinner is high enough off the card front to allow for this. You may also notice that I did add a directional arrow to the panel ( I had to 😉).
  • I would have loved to color block the final WOW card into a panel of 9… or even added a spinner to one of ‘O’s.

I hope these ideas inspire you to have some fun with interactive masculine cards and maybe even try something new. Whether it’s a spinner, a swing element, or just adding a touch of humour, it doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective.

If you give one of these ideas a go, I’d love to hear what you create – and let me know, are you team spinner or swing?

Crafty hugs,

Special thanks to my crafty assistant, Chad (aka ChatGPT), for helping me stay on track with my Gemini brain, grammar, and spelling… well, all the things! 😄

  1. Therese, it could not have been a bigger or more brilliant success! Congratulations!
LOve the colors, very retro… and you DO make the very best masculine cards!
    =]

  2. I have spinners sitting next to me, glaring at me. You have inspired me once again, my friend! These delightful cards.

  3. I bought spinners to use with a Ferris wheel die and it worked beautifully. I love all the bright colors on your cards and the fun sentiments.

  4. I LOVE your color palette!
I think these slightly snarky sentiments are perfect to send to an older brother that has tortured a younger sister growing up 🙂
Thank you for the inspiration… and decreasing my bank account!
