Ever thought of using a galaxy background for a Christmas card?
After making Northern Lights backgrounds for the Summit, I couldn’t resist trying another dramatic sky idea – this time with a Christmas galaxy twist.

Christmas Galaxy Background Card
Love ink blending? Love making unique backgrounds? Then grab your inks and blending brushes and head to the galaxy – it’s perfect for so many card occasions, including Christmas!
Quick Galaxy Background Tip
Start by ink blending a few bright colors randomly over your card panel, then blend a deep dark grey or black over the top. Let some of the brighter areas peek through, then add water splatter and lift it with paper towel to create soft starry spots. Finish with white ink splatter for extra stars.Don’t forget to ‘shop your stash’ for a fresh new take on this technique!
Card Inspiration – Jolly Santa!
For this card, I wanted to create a sky background that felt dramatic and festive, but a little different from the Northern Lights cards I made for the Summit.

I added a large stenciled and die cut Santa face over the galaxy background. I love the way the bright colors peek through the darker sky and give the whole design a fun, festive glow.

Over to You!
Have you tried making a galaxy background for your cards? I hope you are inspired to!
It’s such a fun way to play with color, and once you add those water-lifted stars and white splatters, every background turns out a little different. If you love backgrounds as much as I do… make sure you don’t forget to join the FREE Summit here.
