Fun Fold Floral Cards

Floral cards are so versatile and can work for almost any occasion, so why not add a little something extra with a fun fold? A simple change to the card base can add interest, reveal a surprise, or give your design a whole new way to open.

Easy Fun Fold Ideas to Try:

• Z-Fold• Trifold• Gatefold• Easel Card
• Joy Fold• Pop-Up Card• Window Card• Shaped Card

Many of these can be easily adapted to suit the stamps, dies and florals you already have in your stash.

Card #1 – Floral Trifold Window Card

For my first card, I decided to start with a trifold design and step it up with a window in the front panel. I love how this brings the inside of the card to the outside and makes the layered scene part of the design before you even open it.

I used the same main elements across both cards, starting here with an embossed front panel and a floral bouquet tucked along the left side of the window.

The bold black-and-white sentiment sits in the centre of the circle, while the stenciled scene on the middle panel brings in the trees and water behind it.

The Greeting? I also added a plain panel to the inside of the trifold, giving me a dedicated spot to write a personal greeting without covering the stenciled scene.

Card #2 – Floral Z-Fold Card

For my second card, I kept the same painterly florals and colour palette but changed the fold. This time I created a simple Z-fold, which gives the design a little extra dimension while still folding flat for mailing.

I added the flowers to the front panel so they hang slightly over the edge, then layered the sentiment over the top to bring everything together.

The only real change was in the stenciled background, where I added a soft yellow to the reflection in the water.

The Greeting? Because the colours are so pale, it would be easy to write a greeting directly on the scene, on the back of the Z-fold panel, or on the back of the card itself.

  1. That scene stencil really works well for fun folds, Therese. Adding the flowers in the corner completes it beautifully.
