Soft Floral Card Ideas | Simple Ways to Create a Delicate Look – Altenew November Blog Hop + Giveaway!

Want to create softer, more delicate floral cards without losing all that beautiful detail?

In my last card, I shared three simple ways to add softness to a die cut flower card, along with a handy tip box full of ideas to try. Today, I’m putting a few more of those tips into practice with two more soft floral cards.

Would you like to see how?

Soft Floral Card Ideas

For these two cards, I wanted to show how colour, texture and a few simple techniques can create a softer look without losing definition. I’m using the same gentle pink, apricot and blue-green colour palette for both designs, but achieving two very different results.

Card #1 – Layered Stencil

When using ink color families with layering stencils, it can be easy to lose that soft, delicate look as the colors build up. So, I decided to use just the lighter shades from each ink family for this bloom, mixing in similar colors from other sets to keep everything soft and pretty.

I did sneak in one slightly darker color for the final shadow layer, adding just enough depth and definition without making the flowers too bold.

For the finishing touches, I added clear iridescent sequins for a little sparkle without overpowering the design.

Card #2 – Embossed Floral Panel

Keeping a design clean and simple can really help create that soft, delicate feel, which is exactly what I wanted for this card.

White embossed floral card with softly ink blended pink, apricot and blue-green flowers, delicate ink splatters and a blush pink sentiment.

I embossed a floral panel onto white cardstock and used detail blending brushes to selectively add soft ink blending to the raised flowers and leaves. I also added a little splatter using the same gentle colors, along with some white.

For both cards, I added a white heat embossed sentiment on coordinating Blush cardstock, which keeps the sentiment soft while still allowing it to stand out.
