Video : How to Get Long Thin Stamps Straight in a Plaid!

Today I share some tips and tricks on how to line up those pesky long thin stamps!  This post is celebrating the newest release at Ellen Hutson and as usual Julie has rocked it.

I have three cards and a video to share with you.  Starting with a card using A Breve Note Stamp Set and a fun alcohol ink background.

Lostinpaper - Ellen Hutson - A Breve Note (card) 1 copy

It’s been a while since I’ve used alcohol ink and I love how this background turned out…..  I used the Various Ink Refills from Copic markers so I could get the perfect ‘BG’ tone.

Next I am using the Latte Love set and there is not a ‘latte’ in sight, in fact I used these images to make a ‘window’ Baby card.  Starting with some sunny shaped windows from the All Inside Die Set.

I added some sentiment banners from the Unicorns ‘n Rainbows and the Good Fortune Stamp Set.  As well as a sweet Gotta Have Gingham background.

My final card has a video with a few Plaid Maker tips and tricks which can you can find linked below.

  1. Oh Therese… I’ve been so patiently awaiting that gingham card – and OMG!!! you never disappoint!! [btw I’ve totally stolen the gingham-look I loved yours so much!] Using those little dies to make windows for these darling coffee-loving characters is absolutely brilliant!!!
Okay… I’m off to watch the wizard… btw I adore your cat-paw-cino!!! [Tom’s not mine!]
    =]

  2. sorry you said long straight scissors and I thought ‘as opposed to long crooked scissors’ just how my brain works sometimes LOVE the card and thanks for another smile

  3. Therese, you never disappoint!! You always make me laugh! Your card is adorable! Next time I would love to be introduced to your cat.

  4. Those are some good tips, and timely. A stamping friend gifted me some long skinny stamps that she had no use for, so I will be using this soon. Lovely cards!

  5. Your alcohol inking is perfect with the coffee press and your baby card is absolutely darling, Therese! Thanks so much for sharing another fun post with us…and for the fabulous video tutorial’!!!

  6. Ever since I saw your latte cat sneak peak card I’ve been counting down to the reveal. The cards are so sweet. I think what I admire most about your blog and YouTube sharing is just that. You share your crafting journey wholeheartedly. Today is no exception. Great hints and tips.
I really wish there was a secret 8th day of the week so we could just make art. But for the moment squeasing in a couple of hours each day will have to safice.
    Crafty cheers

  7. Great cards!! Thanks for the tips on picking up those long, thin stamps. I found them helpful. I always have such a difficult time lining them up. Now I have new ways to try.

  8. These cards are amazing! I truly don’t know how you keep coming up with your amazing designs! Impressive! : ). Your alcohol ink background is gorgeous, and I love the happy little windows for the critters on your baby card! Your CAT- Puccino card is brilliant! Love those paw prints! 👏 Bravo!! (Reminded me about the time I found red ink paw prints from my 80 pound dog on my carpet on Valentines Day!) ❤️❤️❤️ Good think we love those critters so much! 😜

  9. Love it Therese … great tips, but noticed Misti wasn’t used in any of these tips 😉 love Prismas too but think you have to be in mood for them like most mediums.
And good on hubby for going helping suffering farmers, certainly extremes, and on Friday Syd copped a bad storm with damage too.

    1. Hi Shaz, you can certainly use the MISTI for this technique, but I never do, purely because I can’t be bothered moving the paper and not the stamp. I suppose ‘blocks’ are still my go to, but I do know that this is not true for most people now.Have a most fabulous day my friend!

  10. So cool how you created those ‘coffee rings’ with the alcohol inks, Therese … and that critter filled baby card is adorable! Love the video with the tips on getting lines straight … the little kitty-art in the cat-puccino (hahaha) is a delight … and those paw prints are so cute! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  11. That baby card with the little critters is so clever, Therese. Way to stretch the stamps. The plaid is a knock-out. Hmm do I need another plaid stamp? Maybe.
