How to Use Alloy Inks the Wrong Way? + Video!

But is there a wrong way really to use Alcohol Inks?  You can watch me find out in my video linked below.  I love the look of alcohol inks on Yupo but totally haven’t mastered it as a technique, but I still have loads of fun playing anyway.

The other dilema for me too is how to use these panels in ‘my style’ of card making so I thought, rather than sit them aside (which is exactly what I did at first lol), I would make some cards.  Starting with a shaker!

I already had these Zippy Zebra’s ready to go from another ‘failed’ project, yes I wasn’t going so well today….

And I thought they looked fun on the backgrounds.

This fine circle border is from the Essential Circles, which I can’t get enough of right now.

And can you see the shimmer of the Alloys?

…..how cool is this fun sentiment.

  1. These turned out fabulously! The zebras are perfect with the colourful backgrounds. I think your experiments were a great success. What is that sparkly stuff in the shaker?

  2. I love these cards. But beyond that, it’s so nice to hear that you have the same issues I have. I have sheets of alcohol ink backgrounds that I made while experimenting, and then didn’t know what to do with them. Maybe I should dig them out and have another play. Inspiration may hit! Thanks for letting us know that things don’t always come easy to you.

  3. I couldn’t be more proud of you, Therese! So happy to see you on this Top 100 list… it is such a well deserved recognition! You make many of my days happier, I’ll tell you that, my friend!
Thanks for sharing your inking today… far from a fail!
    =]

  4. Love these cards and what you did with the alcohol inks. It’s so great to hear your thought process throughout the card making. I feel I’m not alone struggling with the creative process.

  5. I still haven’t dived into alcohol inks. You used the panels to great effect though with the failed pieces. Glad to see I’m not the only one with a fail project – I actually have a small tub!

  6. Love how they turned out. Especially love that touch of humour. I’ve come to expect that from you when you’re not using florals, it’s so refreshing and of course it brings a smile to my face. Guess what? my Tim Holtz tool arrived in the post this morning. I’ve never used an air blower tool before so I have nothing to compare it too, but I’m sure I shall enjoy having some fun with it!

  7. I do want to try alcohol inks, I do like the Alloy’s reaction, it’s like you have used foil. I want to try that too. Tim Holtz has a great video on using a stencil and foil. I think those backgrounds looked great and the cards you made using them worked out beautifully. 🙂 Stay well. Thanks for sharing Theresa!

  8. These turned out so well! I haven’t tried alcohol inks yet. It would probably be another thing to buy and have sit in my craft room untouched! 🤦‍♀️ I do love seeing what other people do with them though.

  9. These are adorable and using the black and white zebras is perfect – a striking balance with the beautiful blues and purples.

  10. Congratulations on your Top 100 spot, Therese! You’re actually in my Top 10 … so there must be an awful lot of people missing out on you (poor things)! Delicious AI backgrounds, especially with the metallic shimmer and shine … and adorable zebra’s. Those Zippy Zebra’s are at the top of my wish list at the moment, so it’s fabulous to see them in action! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration! Hugs, Anita 🙂

    1. Hi Megan, it’s a Technique Tuesday set called ‘Sassy Lazy Thoughts’ it’s an older set… I’m not sure if it’s still available. Thanks so much Therese

  11. Wonderful cards Therese! Thanks for sharing your video and congratulations! 🥳 🎉

  12. Congratulations on making the top 100, Therese. You’ve always been one of my favorites. I’m with you on the working of the alcohol. I think it’s a matter of play or practice, one in the same in my book. I think you used the panels well. I’m intrigued by any card that has an alcohol panel and think they all look good. Well, almost all. 😉

  13. Knew I’d see the gloved hands work their wonder!!! Great use of the creations. I was looking at those new alloys but haven’t yet committed. Congratulations on making the 100 list! Well deserved! Your videos are always so much fun and so helpful!! 🙂

  14. I think you did fabulously with the alcohol inks and make them work perfectly with your style. Hope you’ll do more.
