How to: Easy Watercolor with Brush Markers or Refills + Video!

This is quickly becoming a series… with yet more watercolouring techniques to share. Today I have 2 simple ways to use Watercolor Brush Markers…  and refills.  But first, I wanted to let you know about my Take 2 With Therese series at Altenew and if you haven’t seen these videos before you can check them out HERE.

Altenew - PAF Anemone - Take 2 With Therese (card video) 1I hadn’t had a chance to play with the new beautiful Paint-A-Flower: Anemone until now and it’s a delicate bouquet that can really make a statement on a card design. I started by creating a simple wash using the Refills.

Altenew - PAF Anemone - Take 2 With Therese (card video) 1I worked on Altenew’s Watercolor Paper which allows the colour to move (tick) and it is smooth (tick) and bright white (tick).

Altenew - PAF Anemone - Take 2 With Therese (card video) 1I added a sentiment from the Hello and Hugs Stamp Set.

Altenew - PAF Anemone - Take 2 With Therese (card video) 1For my second design I coloured direct with the Watercolor Brush Markers in almost a ‘no-line’ style.

Altenew - PAF Anemone - Take 2 With Therese (card video) 1This time I added some spatters with the Sea Glass Metallic Ink Spray,

Do you like using the watercolour brushes?  I have found that they are easier for me to ‘control’ than the pans, but I’m working on those lol.  Thanks for your visit here today, I’ll be back soon, Hugs, Therese signature 2 Other Supplies:  Watercolor Brush Markers – Sea Breeze / Lime / Dusk / Midnight Violet / Warm Sunshine.

  1. I have a set of watercolor markers that my son gave me, and I’ve only used them a couple times. You’ve inspired me to give them another try. When I watercolor I usually use watercolor pencils. Both of your cards are beautiful.

    1. I find the Watercolor Brush Markers so easy to use and they are such bright fun colours that they make me happy, I hope that you have fun colouring! Have a great day, Crafty hugs, Therese

    1. It is fabulous though a little more costly, I think value for money the larger pad gives you 4 card fronts per sheet… but the ease of the precut is wonderful (does that make me lazy?). I remember that when I bought a (small) high quality watercolour pad that it was quite expensive, and it wasn’t as white so it’s sitting there not being used and these ones are. Hugs hon x

  2. Absolutely gorgeous cards Therese. I adore them. Very pretty and in my favourite colour combination ❤️

    1. I have rarely used blue on flowers until this year and I have been really enjoying the colour… so it’s nice to hear that it’s your fave colour combo. Hope you have a great day Delia!

  3. Beautiful colouring. I really like how that purple transformed the blooms. I’m glad you added it.

  4. More lovely cards! Love the second one. Don’t think I have done much colouring of any kind for a while – I’m going to be really rusty. Glad to hear your take on the paper – you know I’m a matchy white girl! 🙂

    1. I will have to try the abstract watercoloring. Not my best skill, but looks amazing on your cards. So beautiful!

  5. The flowy-ness of that first card is fabulous, Therese … it’s so organic and unstructured! Love your colouring on the second card … I rather liked the soft purple as you were painting … though it turned out to be even lovelier with that extra touch of dusk! Hugs, Anita 🙂
