Do you want a modern fun way to use sentiments on your Christmas cards? Today I share SIX different ideas to do just that! Welcome back to my Same But Different Christmas Card Series for 2020! Let’s get started…..
Idea No. 1 – Design Paper: I used My Favorite Things Candy Lane paper pad (this Very Merry is similar) and this actually gave me the colour palette for todays card designs.
I used the Bold Alphabet Dies and heat embossed the rest of the sentiment. It needed something else so I added a Fine Frame from Altenew.
Idea No. 2 – Image for a Letter: this is a fun technique and I replaced the ‘O’ with an EBE Holiday Character.
This die is the Wreath of Joy from Reverse Confetti and I love the 2 layers of letters.
Idea No. 3 – Add Texture: There are so many ways to add ‘texture’ but I chose some of this fabulous felt.
I die cut it with the Tall Alpha dies and added a sub sentiment topped with some holly.
Idea No. 4 – Add a Shadow: it’s really easy to layer up die cuts to create the look of dimension or a ‘shadow’.
This time I used the Essentials By Ellen Classic Block Alpha, and they are cool!
Idea No. 5 – Negative Space: I stamped multiple Merry’s in the background using the Lawn Fawn Simply Winter Sentiments.
And my ‘negative’ space was created using Altenew’s Mega Alphabet M Die.
Idea No. 6 – Repeated Sentiment: This technique could be done with dies or stamps but today I couldn’t help but use these ‘layering’ dies from Altenew.

They are the Linear Pathway Alpha Solid and Outline sets….. mmmm what can I say!

The colours of the paper pad were such fun to play with.
here they are together,
and more….

You can see my video here or Watch it in HD at YouTube.
I hope that you were inspired to use BIG Sentiments on your Christmas cards and if you try some of these ideas I love it if you’d tag me so that I can see what you create!
and yes there is still more to come! Big Christmassy hugs,

What can I say? You’ve really excelled yourself here Therese. These cards are incredible and all so different. The alphas are on their way, I couldn’t resist, along with too many other Altenew goodies. Can a crafter have too many? I think not. Thank you for once again creating beautiful cards using amazing techniques to inspire us. Enjoy your weekendâ¤ï¸
Those Alphas are wonderful I agree, I know you will play with them lots so in fact that makes them an investment (wink). I’m so happy that you liked these cards too Delia!
Fabulous, Therese! I just purchased the M initial from Altenew and I never thought to use it like you did. You rock!
I have the ‘T’ myself lol. The mega alphas are so versatile and I would love the whole ‘set’ but settled for a few go to letters to mix and match, my fave one is the ampersand. thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment Marisela!
