How To DOUBLE Partial Die Cut a Scene GIVEAWAY + Video!

Have you tried partial die cutting? What about DOUBLE partial die cutting? It’s easy to do and in today’s video I will show you how!

First, I have some exciting news I am a Guest Designer at Concord & 9th this month along with these incredible artists Channin, Seeka and Yasmin, seriously, check out what they have made with these sets!

I gotta say today’s colour combo makes me very happy. I was planning on making an ‘all white’ house card, that changed after I finished the Yuletide Ornaments card.

Lostinpaper - Concord & 9th - Home for the Holidays - Card Stacks Base Dies - Yuletide Ornament (card) copy

These big ornaments are such a fun image that I had to put 3 of them all on the one card lol.

Lostinpaper - Concord & 9th - Yuletide Ornament (card) 1 copy

It was easy to add some quick colour with the blending tool and die cut them out with coordinating dies.

Lostinpaper - Concord & 9th - Yuletide Ornament (card) 2 copy

Next I used the Card Stacks Base Dies to create an interactive design.

I wanted the houses from the Home for the Holidays and panels to be joined.

  12. These cards are AMAZING! I love the winter scene and the gorgeous ornaments!!! The colors are outstanding!!

  13. I like the 2nd card as much as the first! Large ornaments make for a quick and easy card to duplicate.

    1. I agree, and this ornament would look just as fabulous on it’s own as a centre piece and then the card would’ve been even quicker to make lol.

  14. Great video….I love your sense of humor! I really like your card a lot! The colors are great too!

    1. ooh that is odd… there is usually a place to comment directly below the video, but I think it may be different if you are watching on a device like a phone or tablet… you may need to scroll on the ‘right’ side of the video right to the end if directly underneath isn’t an option. Thanks so much for taking the time to let me know, I will check it out!

  15. I just saw this video, and I loved the double die cutting. The card came out beautiful! The die set would a great addition to my stash! Thank you for sharing!

  16. Wouldn’t it be fun if there really was a purple sky with snowflakes? Loved your cards and video!

  17. One of the things I still need for my stash is a good set of houses in stamps or dies. Home for the Holidays looks amazing.

  18. So beautiful! You always have such wonderful color combos! And putting three of those beautiful ornaments on the one card is brilliant!

  19. Love the ornament card! Both cards are wonderful. I watched your video and you explain the die cutting so easy to follow. Thanks!

  25. Hi, Therese! I don’t know if the issue is on my end, but my comments have not been posting so I am going to try again. I apologize if my first comment does appear later. 😀 Okay, your cards are always gorgeous. The ornaments are stunning!

  26. Therese, I commented on IG, and then I came here to look, and I seriously want to just soak in every little detail, so I am eager to watch your video and see exactly how you made these cards and learn some new tips on die cutting!

  27. Never considered the ornament set… until now! I was struggling with house color combos but this one is wonderful. WooHoo!

    1. Thanks so much Cheryl, my initial plan was to create the houses ‘all white’ I think that would also look wonderful. but after I created the ornament card I just had to recreate the colours on the other card lol.

  28. Your card made me feel jolly! Great tutorial and wonderful products from Concord & 9th!

  29. Absolutely love, love, love your card, Therese! The double partial die cut technique makes your card extra special! Your color choices are awesome! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with all of us!!

  30. I’m super excited that you’re guest designing for Concord and 9th this month yay! I always enjoy all you do with Altenew as well. Love your videos!

  31. Beautiful color on both the ornaments and the houses, Therese. I saw Jennifer use the interactive die but she glued the houses on. I think I’d go that way too although your made the partial die cutting look easy.

    1. Yes that would have been much easier lol. But you know what it’s like when you have a plan in your head lol. thanks so much for your lovely visit here again Bobby!

  32. Wow, what beautiful cards! I think if you’d made the house scene card in white it would’ve lost it’s impact. The colour combinations are gorgeous and so unusual but work so well. I love the bauble card, too – it’s big and bold and beautiful.

    1. I think the colours made all the difference too… but I think I’m still going to have to create the ‘white’ just to get it out of my system lol.

  33. I like your approach of partial die cutting the house on the snowy ground. It’s so smart as it minimized the bulk of the card, especially since there are many layers in the house details and the multiple house sections.

  34. Both cards are lovely. I love the color scheme you’ve chosen for both. Thanks as always for sharing.

  35. The houses were too cute already and then I saw the wreaths on the front doors!! Love the colours too 🙂

      1. Oh my goodness, I just stumbled onto this video, I have never seen this done before. I love it!
I’m always lookin for card ideas & this is awesome.
Thank you so much for sharing.

  36. I love the colors that you used on both of these cards. Thank you for the info on partial day cutting also. Can’t wait to use this die set (Home for the holidays)

  37. Aww!! This little Christmas Village is so adorable!! Love the 3D effect on your card, it will look so beautiful as decoration on top of the mantel this Holiday Season.
Thank you for sharing and for the chance to win this awesome price.
    Stay healthy and safe.
    XO
    Maria Rodriguez.

  38. Therese! This is so amazing! Loving the colors – eggplant might be a favorite in that pack of paper for me, too! This darling die set would be perfect for using every scrap of it!
    =]

  39. I just love all the detail on the little houses, this scene is just gorgeous, and put together beautifully by a card master. Love it all. Makes me wish we got to have a white Christmas in Australia. Thank you for sharing.

    1. I know right… but I decided years ago that if I want to make snowy Christmas cards then I will… Though I do prefer a warm Christmas day by the pool or at the beach lol.

  40. I love these cards. I’m a sucker for little houses and have way more dies than I need but I can’t resist them. The ornament one is so pretty, some of my fav colors.

  41. I love the colors on both cards! Green, teal, and purple are favorites of mine. I’m glad I came to check out your blog so I could see your ornament card. It’s so pretty! The partial die cutting card is just so cute. I bet whoever you give it to will love it!

  42. LOVE the purple sky with the teals! Great colors! I must say, the partial double die cutting does make a difference, well worth your efforts. I, on the other hand, will skip that because I do not want to be cussing while making Christmas cards! 🙂 I always forget what my “x” meant (cut? don’t cut?) and end up cutting off the wrong part! ARGH! I do NOT think in 3 dimensions 🙂

  43. Therese I appreciate your explaining double die cutting. I love making box cards and adding all the little elements is sometimes touchy! Having the houses on the stripes makes perfect sense to me. I enjoyed your video very much and appreciate the time you took to explain the steps. Thank you.

  44. Those ornaments are so pretty. What a fast way to do some Christmas Cards. Thanks for the inspiration.

  45. Both cards are beautiful. Would like to see how you made the ornaments card with the lovely shading. Looks like it could have been done using copics but your technique was probably easier

    1. MUCH easier, I used a blending tool directly over the embossed bauble and I created a second piece to have as the string and top… hope that makes sense.

  46. Absolutely stunning card. After watching your video, I think my nimbly knobby fingers might just be able to do this too! Great video and love the colour choices.

  47. This happy winter scene makes me smile and the colors are delish! I think this would be a pretty Christmas Eve place setting little “guest gift”. Your videos are as cute as your cards. I think when you combine humor, honesty, great tips and a laugh or two or more – you have a winner!

  48. These are adorable. I love the ornament card. So far, I have like everything I have seen from Concord & 9th.

  49. This may sound silly but sometimes I force myself not to watch your videos as soon as they come out.. I wait a day or two so it came be a bing!! So glad you share your talent with all of us!

  50. This is the CUTEST! I love the idea of that 3-D technique! I have to try this with some of the things I have on hand.

  51. Hi
I really like the partial die cutting technique. That give an extra technique with the dies.
Also, I like the color pattern. Nontraditional colors so refreshing.
    Beautiful card.
    Thanks
    Erica

  52. Both are absolutely gorgeous but I think the ornaments are my favorite, simply beautiful! Thank you for always bringing us great inspiration!

  53. WOWZA!!! Therese, these cards are both terrific! You’ve encouraged me to try them both! Love the color palette and that scene work…whoa gorgeous!!! Thanks for sharing 🙂
