Do you want to create a different look for the same florals? It’s easy to do by simply changing up the way you colour them……
But first, this post is part of a Hop celebrating a new release from Altenew so you should have arrived here from NICHOL’s wonderful Blog.
Today I wanted to share that you can really ‘stretch’ your stamps by changing the way that you colour them! These flowers from the Dazzling Dahlia Stamp Set are very similar, but they look different on these card examples.

Idea #1 – Line Colouring
I used the same coloured Artist Markers to make the comparison was easier. But you could use whatever medium you prefer.

Line colouring easy to do, especially if you are new to alcohol markers. I also love to mix my mediums and used a couple of Woodless Coloring Pencils to add just a little extra depth.

I added a subtle background using the Linear Spiral stamp.

Idea #2 – No-Line Colouring
Now for a completely different look. To me, no-line colouring gives a softer and more realistic look.

Simply stamp the image with a light coloured ink that will not be visible once the colouring is complete. Make sure that the ink is compatible with the medium you choose and keep the stamp nearby so you can see where the lines should be, if you get lost lol.

And you can always add in details, like the flower centre, with a fine liner after the colouring is complete. This time I added a bold embossed background as well as a sentiment from the One-Go Birthday Greetings Set.

Absolutely gorgeous! You are the queen of florals.
Oh my gosh, that’s exactly what I was thinking, lol.
Just fabulous. Two absolutely gorgeous cards. That background stamp is amazing and I love the colours that you used. They co-ordinate so well. Thank you Therese. You’re always an inspiration â¤ï¸
I am so intimidated to be guesting on this hop with you and now that I’ve seen your cards, I’m even more so. We had similar ideas with the no-line and line of the same image but I used the stencils with mine. Yours are gorgeous using the Artist Markers.
wow!
Theresa…. as always, your talent blows me away. Gorgeous!
Just beautiful as always, Therese!
Stunning colouring, Therese! You and the fabulous Altenew florals are a match to behold!
Each card is beautiful as usual.
I love the colors and backgrounds on your cards- so pretty!
Two cards, completely gorgeous! You do amaze and delight, my friend – especially when you pull out those no-line skills of yours! x

LOVE that linear spiral background!
Stunning background with the spiral and love your flowers!
I love your cards Therese. I am really loving and wanting that Linear Spiral Stamp. There has been so many techniques with it on this hop and I am thrilled. I look forward to owning that one.
Thinking About You is my favorite. I love the way you colored it.
I love the no-line look but I’m rubbish at it. Thanks for sharing this gorgeous inspiration.
I love your beautiful cards using the Altenew products!
I love the no line look but I can’t colour either very well! Yours is stunning!
Love the linear spiral background. Lovely cards.
Love those florals. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cards.
Lovely inspiration Therese. Thanks for sharing!
These are just so stunning Therese, I truly need lessons in no line colouring such a difference it makes.
So great to see the difference between a no line and outline result. Both are beautiful but the softness of the no line image makes me want to try more of it.
Such lovely coloring! I wish I had your skills. Got to keep practicing.
Oh my goodness, your beautifully coloured dahlias look amaaaazing!
So classic & elegant!! I love the flower on the geometric background too! Gorgeous!!
Beautiful cards. I especially like the 2nd card- I like the soft background. And the Dahlia is a beautiful stamp!
Beautiful!
Pretty cards. I like the spiral background.
Thanks for sharing your lovely cards! I love the no line coloring!
Lovely cards, especially the no line flower. Thanks for sharing
So beautiful!
The no-line is outstanding!
Such lovely florals, wonderful colours and gorgeous cards, Therese! Love them all. Beautifully done. Thank you for such amazing inspiration.
Such a beautiful card.
Therese, gorgeous floral cards. I agree the no line is more realistic looking. Your coloring on each is fabulous and I adore the linear spiral background.
I found this post really fascinating! It was interesting to me to see the same stamp set used with different techniques. I agree with you — the no-line example does look so much more realistic than the example with outlines. They’re both wonderful though. Thanks for the inspiration!
You never fail to impress with your beautiful cards. And, you used my favorite set from this release!!
Both cards are so beautiful!!
Beautiful cards. I like the colors and backgrounds.
I don’t always like the busier backgrounds, but your use with subtle colors made it not so busy looking.
Thanks for sharing your creations!
The card with line coloring is so beautiful. The woodles coloring pencils are my favorite, they give such a great touch on everything.
Beautiful coloring on the dahlia. Thanks for sharing.
WOW what a difference! Love the no-line colouring the best though! 🙂
