How to Color BEAUTIFUL White Flowers with Alcohol Markers (+ Video)

Let’s talk alcohol… alcohol markers that is 😉! Today I share my tips to colour white flowers using markers.

Did you see my recent post where I shared 2 fun ways to create White Die-Cut Flowers? If not, you can catch up right HERE. And, building on that, I thought it was time to share how to colour a ‘white’ flower using alcohol markers.

You can see the video below or watch it HD at YouTube.

Have you ever tried creating WHITE flowers?

Adding shading to create a white flower can be a little intimidating. So I have some tips to share with you today.

  • I used cool grey markers to create my shadows.
  • Use a light hand, you can always come back and add more shading after.
  • I also added a grey/purple colour BV20 for added shadow.
  • Finish the other sections of the bouquet (such as colouring the leaves and filler flowers) before completing your final shading.
  • Leave ‘white space’ on the petals.
  • Don’t be afraid to add a small amount of ‘darker’ ink for a final WOW!

And check out this BIG Bloom!

You may have seen this bloom before… I have also coloured it in ‘color’ and you can see how different it looks right HERE.

I popped up the ‘swag’ onto a Inky background.

And added a simple sentiment as well as some sparkly gems. I wanted the flowers to be the ‘star’ of the show today.

I hope you are inspired to colour some ‘white’ flowers! Let me know in the comments below if you are going to try this technique. AND if you want me to try any other styles of white flowers…. maybe pencils, watecolour… more die cut layering 😄.

  1. Those sage greens and soft grays are the perfect pairing with those gorgeous white blooms! Love this, Therese!

    1. It really is a beautiful floral ‘swag’, not that I know what a swag is lol. I am thinking it’s something like a garland that goes above a fireplace (you know I’m going to have to look it up now). So glad you liked it!

  2. Therese, you pulled out the grey markers today – you know I’m happy about that, right? Can’t wait to watch these gorgeous white flowers come to life!!
    =]

  3. Bought this stamp set because of all the inspiration. Then, WOW, say your card and just watched your UTube .. several times and worked up the courage to try it myself. It really is daunting trying the white flowers, as I am shading them…however I am glad you did a video, because I just thought, she made it come together, be patient, it WILL come together. LOL… will tag you on my Insta post .. Thanks for the Inspiration and your sharing your creativity. Many HUGS Therese.
