Do you like elegant, cutsie or funny designs for your Christmas cards? Today I have a video By Request to create some ‘non-tacky’ Australian themed cards….. wish me luck!
I decided to make a 3 cards today so that you can have lots of inspiration, and if you have your Christmas cards made already then these could easily be changed up for other occasions. I also decided to colour using my Pencils, it feels like it’s been a while!

I started with the Uniquely Creative Gum Leaves Branch,

I dusted off my Prismacolor Pencils and I know that they take me ‘longer’ to colour with but I seriously do love the results,it’s great to be able to ‘mix’ the colours on the image.

I added a beautiful MFT Hand-Lettered Holiday Greetings sentiment and embossed this in gold (because we all know that ‘gold’ is posh).

My second card mimic’s the Christmas Bush which is native to Australia and I used the Pen Sketched Flowers from Altenew to ‘get the look’.

Love this sweet font from the Modern Poinsettia Stamp Set.

And finally I thought these Proteas would look beautiful coloured with Woodless Watercolor Pencils (which are from South Africa but they do come from the same family as the Australian native Grevillia’s and Banksias, a bit of a stretch but a beautiful native flower all the same).

I used the MFT Joyful Wreath with Reverse Confetti’s Joyful Holiday Wishes to create this layered sentiment.

You can see my video here or Watch it in HD at YouTube.

Absolutely gorgeous, Therese. Simply stunning! 💜 So elegant. I was so proud of my purple snowflakes cards and then I saw yours. haha haha haha Feliz Navidad from San Antonio, Texas. That’s Merry Christmas in Spanish. 🎄🎄🎄
Purple snowflakes sound perfect! Feliz Navidad to you too Marisela!
My sweet friend, you couldn’t do ‘tacky’ if someone paid you to!! LOL I’m loving all the native florals you’ve used today – and your Prisma-talent is still intact, too!
I’m singing my Kookaburra song again! xx
=]
Hahaha I heard the kookaburras laughing as I was leaving for work this morning… maybe they knew something that I didn’t know lol.
Hi Therese I struggle to imagine you ever doing tacky, all your cards are amazing. These three so beautiful. Love every inch of them. I sat down the other day and used up a pile of scrap fun foam like you do, fabulous way to use up wastage, thanks for the idea xx hugs Aileen
Thanks so very much Aileen, you are like me I do hate to waste those bits of fun foam especially when they can hide perfectly behind a card panel lol.
So pretty – love them all.
Thanks so much!
Oh Therese these are simply gorgeous. So beautiful and soft and so Aussie! Love them. Thanks for sharing with us all.
Happy to hear that you like them Ina!
Such beautiful images. Very unique. Love seeing you create.
Thanks so much Lisa!
I can’t imagine one of your cards being tacky, Therese!! (Maybe mine!! LOL!!) These are wonderfully elegant. Love watching your colouring. Just beautiful! x
So glad that you like them Helen!
three beauties, Therese!
thank you Betty!
These are so beautiful and most definitely non tacky!
Thank you so much Gab!
Absolutely lovely cards!!! I am really enjoying your Christmas card series and learning a lot. Thanks so much for the inspiration. Your coloring is gorgeous.
Thanks so very much Sarah, I always have fun making Christmas cards!
More beautiful cards, and so lovely to see an Australian theme for Christmas. I could do tacky Therese – you never do! These cards are so elegant – thank you for the inspiration!
Thanks so much Ann, you are so sweet!
Oh Theresa
How could you ever create a tacky card. The three were all very elegant and definitely very Australian. Love the Posh Gold!
Can’t wait to watch the video.
Cheers
Lisa
Thanks so much Lisa, you know that a little gold added to anything makes it totally ‘posh’ lol.
Gorgeous cards! Watching you color is such a joy! Thank you for all the tips, i learn so much from your lovely videos!
Thanks so very much Hamutal!
You certainly did it!! Smashed it as they say. You’ve even inspired me to think about using coloured pencils more often (I’m lazy and tend to use layered stamps to add colour quickly).
I just felt these images ‘needed’ pencil colouring today but I totally hear you on the easy of stamp layering and even Copics are much faster for me lol!
These were beautiful cards, as all of your cards are. I love your videos, I always get so many ideas from them, you are so talented, thank you for sharing!!
So happy that you liked these cards Michelle!
These are very beautifully colored. I love the unusual subjects. Some of these plants I have never seen. Thanks for sharing your talents!
So glad that you liked them, thank you Heidi!
I don’t think you could do a tacky card if you tried – everything you share with us is beautiful!!! Love these cards!!
Thanks so very much Susan!
I’m a bit shocked but the implication here…. lol. These are elegance personified.
hahaha thanks so much hon x
I am not sure if you are restricted to the companies you are affiliated with but Paper Rose Studio has some nice native stamps and dies. I have never thought to make a Christmas card with a floral stamp… I don’t think that Father Christmas in a pair of board shorts is particularly tacky or at least I have seen some shockers not exclusive to a “Santa’ image. Maybe a better challenge would be a totally ‘tacky’ card, I think it might be fun.
Yes, I have some Paper Rose stamps and met the lovely owner at the Papercraft show in Brisbane (a few years ago), and I agree they have some lovely Australian style / native flowers stamps and dies. Next challenge some fun ‘tacky’ Christmas cards… it may be next year though as I have run out of time this year, would you please remind me as my brain seems to have holes in it lol.
Yep those gum leaves are awesome! I don’t believe you would ever do tacky!
hahaha yes, I do love some ‘tack’ but thank you Vicki!
Gorgeous cards! Definitely not tacky! Love the colors, stamps and gold touches. Perfection!
Glad you like them, thanks so much Karen!
Beautiful and the furthest thing from tacky!
hahaha Thanks so much Lee!
