How to Layer Stamp Mulitple BEAUTIFUL Roses with the Stampwheel! (+ Video)

Do you like layer stamping? If you do, then you already will know how easy it becomes when you use a stamp positioning tool. BUT did you know, there is a new kid on the block…

I love my MISTI and use it every day, so when I saw the Stampwheel (which is now available) at Altenew I was intrigued! How could anyone improve on the MISTI? ‘Spoiler Alert’, in true Altenew style there are some definite benefits to their unique design of this stamp positioner! And today, I am sharing some tips for ‘multiple layered stamping’.

Check ou this beauty! You can find this card I made for the Stampwheel release HERE.

This is part of my Take 2 Series with Altenew and I’m so excited to be back with another video today.

Card #1 – Sending Hugs

The great thing about stamp positioners is how easy it is to create multiples of an image, and in this case some layered stamped Antique Roses. And, I wanted to see how the Stampwheel compared with the MISTI with this simple technique.

I love to mix the Altenew inks to create new combos, and today I used the Frozen Delights combined with the Woodland Escape ink sets. I think this combined with the Frosted Foliage inks really gave these images a real ‘antique’ feel.

I added some background foliage using the Eclectic Bouquet Stamp Set as well as a sentiment from Fancy Greetings. I was repeating a design idea I had with this card HERE.

Card #2 – Thinking of You

For the second card I changed up the layout of the design, but it is nearly the same.

Except this time, I added a Dotted Tile Debossed background

And a sentiment from the Bold Sentiments Stamp Set. Both cards received a small spattering of Satin White Sequins.

BONUS TIP: Why not leave the sentiment off the card initially, then add one which suits when an occasion arises.

  1. Thanks for the tips on the Stampwheel. I love the colors you used for the roses, even though I am a lover of pink. The enamel dot is a great idea to keep yourself oriented!

  2. Therese you never disappoint with your tutorials. You are so inspiring to me. Your cards are just so lovely and unique and also achievable. Thank you for your time and effort.

  3. Beautiful cards as always Therese, and I love both the colour-ways. I have a question about the Stamping Wheel: one of the limitations I have been finding lately with my Misti is not always being able to position my stamps exactly where I want them, especially if using larger pieces of cardstock. Would an A4 sheet fit in the Stamping Wheel? And could you use it with a Journal?

    1. Thanks so much Cheryl! One of my fave things about the Stampwheel is the photopolymer base, I can stick the paper anywhere on this and the stamps so I am not limited by placing the cardstock at the corner edges. The inner size is a large size but not as big as an A4 (it’s 7.5in X 7.5in). And the depth is similar to the MISTIs so a journal would not fit in there, I’d never thought about how tough life is for journal’ers who like to stamp! Hope this is helpful, Crafty hugs Tx

  4. Therese, I’m going for total honesty when I say I had no interest in a different stamping tool … but I told Tom, I’d like to see someone use it for the Altenew layering stamps and well HERE YOU ARE! I’m convinced you can read my mind!
Off to watch – think I’ll become a believer? We’ll soon find out! x

    1. My next trial is to stamp all four layers at once… I wasn’t game initially, and just wanted to try it similar to how I would use the MISTI. My fave part so far (which surprises me) is having the photopolymer mat in the base, I’m using that more and more. I can see myself using this and the MISTIs!

  5. i loved both cards and bought the 2 ink pad sets, im on the list for the stamp wheel, and believe me ive tries nearly everyone on the market, including 2 mistis, tim holtz ,stamping up and crafters companion, at present im using the 12 by 12 we r memorie keepers and their smaller one… i love the idea of the sticky rubber being used ,i watched simon hurley and saw it there first!!!

    1. How exciting, I hope this is the stamp positioner tool for you. It sounds like you have been on a journey with them lol. To be honest one of my favourite parts of this tool is the photopolymer layer in the base, it has surprised me just how much I use it for everything, holding paper in place when stamping, colouring and even stenciling! Good luck with this tool my friend x

    1. Thank you Angellica, I’m still playing with the Stampwheel and I know there is so much more that it can do… I recently saw a video using it with the Concord & 9th Turnabouts… perfect!

  6. I love your roses! The colors are just perfect. You make the stamp wheel look very easy to use. I have 2 types of hand arthritis and am concerned about holding and flipping the wheel while placing it exactly right. Any advice?
