I {heart} stamps!

So I went to my very first Copic class the other day, and now I feel the need to top up on a few more colours (have you seen all the new ones)…  but so far I’m resisting!    I am trying out some new skin tone colours and thought I would use this fab Greeting Farm image as they are the sponsors for the current colour challenge over at Lily Pad Cards!   I am also joining in the Copic Oz Challenge which is to ‘Celebrate the Women’ in our Lives!   I have just the person in mind for this card…  this can’t just go to anybody, it really needs a like-minded cardish person…  unless of course you know a sweet girl who happens to be a Philatelist!   I also adore the retro look about this stamp, but how about those Astro Boy legs!!  Super Cool!

The team from The Play Date Cafe have created yet another fantasmagorical challenge, dontcha just adore this colour inspiration!!   I used my ‘new‘ Memento Dew Drops colours (12 glorious colours in one handy pack), it’s great not to be limited to only black or brown.  I might try this image in pencil next time, I think it would give it a totally different look.

Mother’s Day

I would just like to share the card I made for my mother this year.  I couldn’t post it any earlier as she is one of my biggest fans, as I am one of hers!  She is the most amazing woman, and I can thank her for my creative streak as she can do anything she can put her mind to, she is such an inspiration.  It would have to be cake decorating that really became her thing, and she can bake and decorate the most awesome cakes!  I highly recommend her caramel mud cake, it is ‘to die for!’  So Happy Mother’s Day mum, you really are the Best & I love you the most!

I actually made a similar card to this recently, you can see it HERE, but I know that my mum isn’t really the CAS type, so this one is definitely alot busier.  I am entering this card into the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge where ‘MUM’S the Word’, this is my first time joining them and it looks like heaps of fun!

It’s a boy!

I’ve been thinking about ’tissue paper’ for a while now…   well at least since Moxie Fab put out a new challenge.  It’s called the Tissue Paper Magic Challenge in the Moxie Fab World!   I was  wondering what I could do & then my workmate had a baby boy (2 days after the baby shower…),  and what with my new Lawn Fawn stamps  I just added tissue paper &  it  all came together.  I had so much fun making this card, I was aiming for something a little prettier, but as usual CAS won out.  I was inspired by this wonderful card by Odette!  My apologies that the photo is a little dark, but I have plans to fix this…   I am going to make my own light box (if that doesn’t work, it’s a new camera)!  I am also entering this card into the current Lawnscaping Challenge ‘Let’s Party’… thank you Christiana!

CSC36 – Enjoy the Ride!

It’s raining here today on our Easter Monday Tuesday (I know it’s confusing but in Australia this year our Public holidays clashed and added up to a 5 day weekend… it’s a long story).  Anyway I was hoping to get a card made for the current CASE Challenge and thought I would ‘whip’ one up before I go off to work this arvo.  They have another wonderful Muse this month, it’s Silke Ledlow and her work is so very inspiring.  I focused on the grid and the basic layout, hope you like it.

Using up scraps…

I embraced the current Embellish Magazine Crochet Trim Color Trends Challenge, that is, I drove down the street to buy some crochet trim only to come home and change my mind to use the one that I already had… work that out!  Luckily I also took the opportunity to take a swim, thus not a totally wasted trip & now I have some more trim for my stash.  Oh and I’ve decided that I am definitely the slowest card maker in the universe, even when I am using up bits of embellishments that I have already made, it can still take me hours to create one card!

An Easter Card for… Easter!

So guess who doesn’t own any Easter stamps?  It’s funny that I didn’t  realise this until I started making an easter card for the current Scrapbook Boutique and Copic Oz  challenges.  Anyway I made do with what I have and enjoyed a little paper ‘spotting’ and got out one of my favourite stamp sets from Basic Grey & here it is…  (drumroll please)…  my very first easter card!

Here is another birthday card for my stash.  I wanted to make something pretty, no offense to the masculine cards or the CAS, but I needed some glitter & butterflies.  I am still working with the vintage look & to me it still looks CAS, but I love trying to make it work!   I was inspired by the wonderful photo for Jay Gee’s Nook Challenge #6.  Stayed with the colour theme & added some scallops for fun.  Hope you like it.

CSC35 – Happy Mother’s Day

So I’ve been struggling with this card for a couple of days… you know,  look at it, shuffle papers around, stamp a bit, get all my ribbons out… then put them back!  I was determined to do the pretty / busy card, so not my normal CAS style.  So I went to bed & now I’m up and back to work this afternoon, lets see what a little pressure does.  This is my entry for the current CASE Study Challenge where the current Muse is Silke Ledlow, she has such a beautiful style.

A Sympathetic Mother’s Day?

So I sat down to make some Mother’s Day cards and I don’t know where I went wrong…  but I ended up with a Sympathy Card.  And although I like it maybe I shouldn’t send it instead of a Mother’s Day card…  they might get the wrong idea.   I wanted to join the current Play Date Cafe Challenge and of course the Lily Pad Cards frame challenge (I didn’t have one of those fancy ones so I made my own – wouldn’t it be nice to win one?).   Then I thought that maybe I could make that mother’s Day card after all… what else would I have done with the leftovers (other than hoard them for years)!

I was lucky enough to have this card published in the latest Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft magazine in the Mother’s Day feature and I’m very excited to share it with you now.

Maybe I should just be on holidays all of the time!  It  suits me to sit and create everyday.  I just couldn’t help myself when I saw Chupa’s new Sketchbook Saturday, I thought I would also pair it with Heather’s Totally Hues Challenge, it’s just sooo much fun!  (not exactly the correct colours, maybe I need to buy more stuff).

Happy Happy Birthday!

Can you believe that I have hardly any birthday cards left in my stash!  I need to work on this so I decided to play with some more challenges for inspiration.  I’m struggling through night duty at the moment and find that my mojo always suffers with lack of sleep. (Oh and you may notice that I ramble alot more too).  My plan was to keep it simple, so it’s the current Clean & Simple FTL combined with Scrapbook Boutique’s Button Challenge  for me.  I’ve had this stamp set forever & still like how it looks to mix all the different circles to create a unique background.

Happy Happy Birthday

ps I love love love WordPress & their automatic backup – I had a minor crisis whilst creating this post and in my night duty stupor thought I was going to have to start again…  but alas no, it was sitting there waiting for me patiently.

Embellish the challenge!

So I have a thousand things I should be doing but instead sat down and made a card for the current Embellish Blogs Color Trends Challenge with Music…. I couldn’t resist.  I feel like I just grabbed for so many different things but the end result turned out quite CAS, surprisingly.  Here it is…

40!

Okay so the computer crisis is officially over & I’m sad to say that after 5 years my trusty laptop has gone to a better place!  Of course this has made room for my new Rolls Royce, sporting lots of fancy abilities (that I will barely use) except for it’s best feature a  lovely 23″ screen…  I’m in heaven!  It’s never just one thing though is it, would you believe that in the middle of all this my little computer burped and needed a quick trip for a ‘patch’ and my husband finally decides to take the plunge and invest in a laptop for himself – it has been just a little hectic (and expensive) around here, but that’s what work is for & I seem to be there a lot at the moment.   Anyhoo maybe I should talk about cards now…

This is for a friend who is not sooo happy about turning 40…   so here’s hoping  she has a wonderful birthday & forgets about the number!   She is probably feeling very lucky right now as she is currently on holidays in Japan & survived the recent devastation & hopefully will get back home to Oz asap.  There are really no words to express the horror that is unfolding there, it is just heartbreaking.  I thought I would make her a card using the current challenge from Jay Gee’s Nook.   This would have to be one of my favourite colour combos, although I used more pink than I planned on (sorry about the dark photo).     ps. have you found the ‘micro‘ glue dots… they are new to me & just the best thing ever!
