Out of the Box!

Definitely out of the box for me, I felt like making an unexpected card for one of my close friends who turned 40.  Not my best photos….   but I’m sure you get the idea, ps her 5 year old son thinks it’s the best thing since sliced bread, the card is constantly in a state of flux!

My Creative Place!

This is a post that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time and finally here it is.  I’ve recently had some time off work and haven’t been able to go too far so I have been spending much of my time in my Craft Studio / Room / Space…  anyway, it’s where I spend my time when I’m not at work (just ask my hubby).  I am lucky enough to have a rumpus room just for me and it’s connected to the kitchen, dining area so I try not to leave it too messy because it’s visible.

I’ve been organizing, and so I thought I would take some pics and share them with you, the trouble is that the weather isn’t being very helpful here today so I apologise in advance for a) the grainy photos and b) my photography.

My Craft Room

Colourful Cats

Paper Storage

The shelf under the desk is from Ikea this is where I keep my A4, 12 x 12 cardstock and 8 x 8 paper pads. Oh, and on the top shelf, that’s my ‘handmade’ light box ( HERE is the link to that post), I hope to have a permanent set up one day, I just haven’t worked out where yet….

My fave storage

This is my fave shelf, I bought it at Super Amart Furniture.  (I’m not sure if this is only in Australia) I just love all these little cubes.

Buttons

I rarely use them but I love to have them and to look at them….  Buttons!

AnnaBelles!

AnnaBelle Goodies!

My Stamps

How I store my stamps.

Drawers for Embellies & Bling

These drawers hold my embellies, bling, pearls, twine, glue dots, chalks and sweets…. but don’t tell my husband lol.

The Essentials

Literally my ‘right hand man desk’ everything that I use ALL the time is just here, my Fiskars Stamp Presses (ahem, yes I have 2), my inks, pencils, corner punches, Copics, Paper Trimmers, pencils.  And on top –  Scissors, tapes, baby wipes etc… This shelf is also from Ikea and my lovely husband has put in on casters so that it is the same height as my desk and it moves, who could ask for more.

Copics

Love love love my Copics, I just lift these containers up on to the desk when I’m colouring.  I store them in basic colour families, I find it easier that way.

And finally I wanted to share with you the VERY technical setup that I use when I am videoing tutorials….  there may be just a little room for improvement needed here lol.

Very technical video setup

Thanks for joining me with my journey around my craft room today.

Hugs

It’s Party Time… at Print Candee!!

How easy is it to have a party with Print Candee, they have so many ‘ready to go‘ fun kits that it was difficult to choose….  but I have a fab friend who is going to get some funky cupcakes, a cute boxed gift and a fun tiara to wear at her party!  This set was so easy to make, just a little tweaking on the computer, print, cut, paste and voila!   I chose this Zebra with Hot Pink Party Kit with Banner created by Michelle Bradley Designs and combined it with this Crown Clipart by Pink Pueblo, LOVE it!

Liebster Award Fun!

How lucky am I to have recieved not one but two Liebster Blog awards this week and I am feeling totally chuffed at the moment, thank you so much Jessi and Chunyuan.  I do have to say that the feelings are mutual, actually I am inspired by all my blog friends and really appreciate the support and encouragement that I receive.

I do have a little confession though, I recieved one of these awards from Jen (another fantastic blog friend) early last year and put it on my ‘to do’ list as I was super busy at the time, moving house, visitors…  and then I forgot, but all the same I was encouraged by the award and this time I am not going to miss the chance to respond.

What is the Liebster Blog award? Here is a quick explanation.   ‘Liebster’ is German for ‘dearest’. The award is a ‘share-the-love’ arrangement, given to inspirational bloggers with less than 200 followers.

Here’s the to-do list of any Liebster award recipient:

1) Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you

2) Reveal your five blogger picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog

3) Copy and paste the award on your blog (see above)

4) Hope that those you award forward it to their favorite bloggers!

How to chose just 5…  impossible, but here I go!

Linda, without you I would probably still be lurking in blogland, I would just like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks for your encouragement to start my own blog and start submitting my cards for publication.  You have been an amazing support, not to mention a very talented papercrafter!

Marion, who would have thought that we would be on not one, but two DT’s together!  I am so inspired by your perfect creations and CAS style, you Rock GF!

Jocelyn, you are such a vibrant fun person who makes the most fantastic cards and I just love your sense of humor. It’s fabulous working together with Print Candee and I really appreciate your support!

Tui, I’ve become an avid follower of your fabulous creations only recently, I always love to see what you’ve been creating and I would just like to thank you for your support.

Last but not least is Jackie, you would have definitely seen her work around, it’s totally awesome and TSG is so lucky to have her on board…  LOVE your inspiration and I totally appreciate your support.

Here’s the short & sweet of it, THANKS to you all, what a wonderful society we have here and I am so lucky to have met and be inspired by so many amazing people!

Guest Designer at Lilypad!

So you have probably already guessed my exciting news…   the blog title kinda gives it away (oops).   Anyway when Lilypad asked if I would be a guest designer for them I couldn’t wait to get started…   that was after I picked up my jaw up from the ground!

If you would like to know the answers to questions like,  where was that glamorous photo of me taken (at my home), what is my cat’s name, what I do in my spare time (other than papercrafting… ) and you would like to see more of these sneak peaks then head over to the Lilypad blog and visit me there!

Thanks for joining me again today and for all those wonderful encouraging comments, they really do make my day!

On a personal note…

Shall I tell you the Best thing about the ‘blogging world’, it’s the people that you meet!   All these amazingly creative people who are willing to share, inspire & encourage.    Not to mention that they share my obsession, maybe you could call it an addiction, therefore they understandJocelyn recently posted a few questions that we could answer to ‘get to know ‘ one another.  Like me, Jocelyn is fairly new to blogging world & her cards are awesome!    So I thought it would be fun to reply…   you know how much I love to ramble when I’m working night duty…

1. How long have you been papercrafting?  6 years ago I decided that I would ‘give cardmaking a go’,  I was struggling to find that ‘right’ card to suit the occasion & was spending fruitless hours and wasting money on cards I was not happy with.

2. How would you describe your style?  My default style is definitely CAS, but I continue to drool over all those pretty, layered and vintage styles…  mmmmm  If I lose my mojo I just head straight back to CAS everytime.

3. Music or no music while you craft? What kind?  Definitely music  and it’s always mood dependant.  Softer relaxing stuff first thing in the morning then it can be anything usually funky, world, chillout, alternative, dance…  no thrash metal though.

4.Do you clean your papercrafting spot every time you are done or is it an ongoing disaster (or something in between)?  I am one of those boring people who cleans each time (mostly each time… sometimes I get daring and might leave it overnight… but only if I’m coming straight back in the morning… ).  You’d be pleased to know that  I do make a’ mega mess’ while I’m creating but have found that if I start on something new & everything is still lying around I am easily distracted and struggle to concentrate on the new design.

5. If you were lost in a deserted craft store and could only have 3 paper lines, what would they be?  This question is unfair and I was thinking of boycotting it on the premise that I could not possibly choose just 3  (I noticed that you put a 4th in yourself  lol)…    But if I had to choose, October Afternoon, My Minds Eye (especially Stella & Rose) and Basic Grey!

6. What’s your favourite brand of ink?  Love that VersaMagic Chalk Ink (but I use Memento for my Copics all the time)

7. Do you sketch out your cards ahead of time or do you craft as you go?  Mostly I  craft as I go, but I have been known to knock out a sketch (usually when I’m at work on my break and thinking about making cards…).

8. What would be your dream job in the papercrafting world?  This is way to hard to consider in my post night duty brain state.  But the main thing I love is creating the cards and trying new techniques… would that be working for a magazine or maybe teaching perhaps?

Thanks for taking the time to visit me here at my blog, I really love all your wonderful comments and encouragement.  It also allows me to find new blogs to surf and see all your creations.

Now back to business… this isn’t getting the cards made!

My Light Box

I did it!   I made my very own light box, and the only thing I had to buy were the lamps & the globes!  I thought I would share my creation with you, because I know that  everybody is just as excited as I am about my light box.  I used one of those cardboard file boxes (there are 2 in a flatpack & ‘cheap as chips’), cut my windows to fit A4 white vellum sheets (I didn’t have any 12″ x 12″), reinforced it with pieces of cardboard and taped a white background to the back and base… and voila!    I aready love the photos especially being able to take photos in the evening and not having to chase the sun around the house (which was one of my previous techniques…  and not a very successful one)!
